Samantha Bruce-Benjamin is a professor of literature and creative writing, author, and former Random House and BBC literary editor.

At the onset of her career, Samantha worked as a literary editor at Random House in New York, where she was privileged to assist such luminaries as Gore Vidal, Dame Muriel Spark, and Chuck Pahlaniuk, before developing her own list of titles both at Random House and the BBC, acquiring and editing a cross-section of bestselling fiction, non-fiction and reprint titles for publication, including National Book Award, PEN/Faulkner Award, Pulitzer Prize, and Edgar award nominees and winners.

Samantha is the author of two nationally recognized works of fiction, The Art of Devotion (Simon and Schuster), an Examiner and Bookreporter Best Book of 2010 and Publishers Weekly Pick, and The Westhampton Leisure Hour and Supper Club (WGP). Samantha has spoken extensively on NPR and WABC radio, and throughout the Northeast, on literature and writing.

Samantha holds an MA and a PhD in English Literature and Creative Writing from The University of Edinburgh, Scotland. As an affiliate of The Centre for the History of the Book at The University of Edinburgh, she is currently developing a monograph on paratext and early modern women’s writing. Samantha divides her time between New York and Edinburgh.
